Spark of World War I  

This powerpoint describes the assassination of Austrian Archduke Franz Ferdinand, the Alliance System, and America’s entry into World War I. In addition, Germany’s attempt to enlist Mexico, via the Zimmerman Telegram, into the Axis alliance against the United States is also described.

  2. It’s strange (and rather quaint) to think of major world powers communicating via telegram. I wonder how we’d fair today if world leaders could only communicate via email?
